These are not ordinary days. Every one of us is processing strong emotions stirred up by the election, ranging from anger to despondency to glee...and everything in between. With that in mind, I share my perspective thoughtfully and respectfully, understanding that it is only my opinion of what is true for me in my own experience, in this moment.

Wow! What a wild ride!  The landscape is changing before our eyes in unexpected ways as the shock waves begin to subside. Fortunately, there has been some wonderful sharing of wisdom and perspective, along with constructive ways to channel the energy. A blog by Beatris Karaoglanyan called “Trump Teaches a Spiritual Lesson” rang true for me and speaks of  the Laws of the Universe.

It's hard to breathe today. No matter where you live and who you voted for, we're in uncharted territory. As I took my morning walk, I did notice that, for the most part, nothing has changed. Then I got a blast of the Santa Ana winds whipping around the corner and felt them as  the winds of change. In that moment, I asked for guidance. What came through was,  "Listen to the wind. The earth is breathing. Now it's your turn."

 Years ago, I had a very small book with a very big mission. Called Oneness - Great Principles Shared By All Religions by Jeffrey Moses, the book contained quotes from every religion to show that basically they all say the same thing about the Golden Rule. In other words, "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you" exists in some form in all of the great religions of the world. Unfortunately for us all, the short form of The Golden Rule, "Love Thy Neighbor," seems to have been all but forgotten during this crazy election cycle time. What happened to us?

With the election less than a week away, the energy surrounding it is intensifying daily. If I had a magic wand, I'd move us forward as a nation, recognizing and even celebrating our differences, and finding ways to work together toward harmony. Alas, I am not in the possession of such a wand... But I can offer a song to the heart of you, with the intention of easing your worry about the outcome on Tuesday.

If I could give you everything, I'd start collecting now...

 Years ago, many spiritual teachers taught that we were moving into a time where the polarity would get more polar. What?? I had no idea what that meant. I'm sad to say that now I understand…

There was a thought-provoking article in the New York Times about "talking to your therapist about election anxiety."  There has been a significant increase of anxiety and stress-related disorders as reported by therapists whose patients cross party lines, and across the country. Apparently, whether you're a Democrat or Republican, this election is poking at the deepest buried fears, raising long-dormant insecurities that have been layered over by years of denial. They are now laid bare for everyone to see - our own and each other's. We are a nation in pain, and hoping for relief when the election is over. I don't know about you, but I'm holding the vision that we can return to the place of "love thy neighbor" again soon.

But wait! Isn't there another way of looking at it?

I've never experienced our nation more divided. Emotions are high as passions run deep, and the stakes have never been higher. For the next few weeks, I will use this space to offer some soothing from the news, sharing songs intended to raise your vibration and open your heart. In Plain Sight is the third in the series of offerings.

This is the second song in an uplifting music series offered now through Election Day (and maybe beyond). Today’s selection is Take Me Home. In this case, home is the heart. Home is peace. Home is unity. We may appear divided, but deep in our hearts, we are all connected through the heartbeat of the earth.

During this very attention-grabbing election season, it's very easy to feel pulled off center...and down. For the next few weeks, I will use this space to offer some soothing from the news, sharing songs intended to raise your vibration and open your heart.
